Meet Julia!
Julia Starr is an illustrator and writer based in Evansville, Indiana. She has a passion for both storytelling and illustration. As a child, her most beloved book was Linnea in Monet’s Garden. This book, with Christiana Björk's gentle storytelling and Lena Anderson's magical watercolors, sparked Julia's lifelong belief that the right story at the right moment can plant seeds that bloom throughout a reader's entire life.
Growing up surrounded by art supplies thanks to her art teacher mother, Julia naturally gravitated toward visual storytelling. She honed her craft at Indiana University Bloomington, earning a BS in Studio Art and a minor in Art History.
Julia is active in the arts in her community and is a member of the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She also volunteers with Battle of the Books Evansville, a local reading competition for 4th and 5th-grade children, where she has had the special privilege of judging their t-shirt design contest.
Julia is also an Independent Artist featured on Minted, where her designs have been selected through their competitive artist challenge process. Her stationery designs, featuring her signature whimsical illustrations, can be customized by customers and purchased through her online Minted storefront.
