Hi, I'm Julia Starr.

I'm an illustrator and writer from Southern Indiana. I'm passionate about writing and illustrating for children. Unlike (most) adults, children will return to their favorite stories again and again until the corners are bent and the covers are worse for wear. Stories we read as children stay with us as we grow into adults.

Picture your favorite book as a kid. What is it? Mine is Linnea in Monet's Garden written by Christina Björk and illustrated by Lena Anderson. I remember checking it out from my local library and curling up on the sofa to read it (still my favorite place to read). I was captivated by the beautiful watercolor illustrations and the idea of traveling to Monet's Garden.

I've always loved art from an early age, thanks to my art teacher mother always encouraged my creativity. I studied art at Indiana University Bloomington and earned a BS in Studio Art with a minor in Art History.

I currently live in Evansville, Indiana where I'm a member of the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana and a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
